Gel Projects contains a comprehensive feature that allows complex Microsoft Project plans to be built using a simple wizard style interface.  The POW Generator is a key feature of Gel Projects that provides flexibility while at the same time not limiting the use of Microsoft Project and  its advanced features within the organisation.  The POW Generator actions are defined using a scripting language called Iron Python which means project rules and variables can be modified by the client’s team without recourse to additional programming.  The ensures the enterprise is agile and self sufficient.

Complex Plans in Minutes

Getting to the point where an indicative price estimate can be provided can take many hours if not days when complex project plans must be created, validated and then a costing produced.  Often Planners will generate an outline Microsoft Project Plan and then pass it to cost estimators to produce a pricing estimate in Microsoft Excel.  This process is prone to manifest errors in many places, especially when common working practices involve starting with a plan copied from another project.  Gel eradicates this area of uncertainty by speeding up the process of generating first draft Project Plans and then estimating their cost, all within the Microsoft Project environment.

Reliable, Complete Plans Every Time

Gel Projects does not rely on a previous project plan when creating a new plan.  The software configurable POW Generator guides the user through a series of scripted questions which then translate their answers into actions on the plan, all linked accurately to the enterprise resource pool and the resources and costs defined therein.  This means that the plan will be complete, with no omissions due to differences between this project and the one it was copied from.  The resulting Microsoft Project Plan will be a comprehensive starting point for the project which is already correctly linked to the resources required.  The Planner can then then tweak the project plan to reflect changes to the project and the associated costs and resource allocations will update in real time in both Project Server and in the Gel Projects system.

Two-Way Integration, No Rekeying of Data

Gel Projects is integrated with Microsoft Project Server in both directions.  If a project plan is opened in Microsoft Project and changes are made, these events will be intercepted and any  resulting action that might be required will be triggered.  For example, a change to a project plan could result in a estimate quote being invalidated.  Similarly, if changes are made in Gel Projects that should be reflected in the Microsoft project plan then these will be triggered by gel firing Project Server events.  For example, the creation of a quote might result in a new baseline being stored for the associated project plan so it can be referenced once the live plan moves on and is adjusted.
