Trigger follows the ISO9001:2000 certified project management methodology as laid out in our quality management system. This methodology incorporates many of the best practices from the Prince2 methodology and is in line with the British Computer Society’s recommendations for IT project management. We have Prince2 Accredited Practitioners in our programme management team.
Our Quality Management System (QMS), and more importantly our compliance to our QMS, is audited every year by NQA as part of our ISO re-accreditation. We were last audited in March 2009 and passed without a single non-compliance or observation report being raised.
At Trigger we offer both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies, using the most appropriate method for each project. The development of some software is best suited to the Waterfall methodology in order to reduce risk and provide a level of confidence in the design of the system. The first functional phase of a project may be completed using this approach, while some smaller follow on projects may run in an agile way to reduce cost where there was no benefit to be had from full documentation. There may be smaller projects or work packages within larger projects that would suite an agile approach. An example of this might be a custom web part to be embedded in SharePoint that references information held in a SQL Server database and for a simple portlet like this it would be overkill to produce full documentation.
